Head of the Class II A Penitentiary in Garut, Rusdedy, stated that a total of 452 supervised residents (WBP) received sentence reductions on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 2026. “A total of 452 supervised residents received remission,” said Rusdedy on Saturday (21/3), as quoted from detikJabar. Rusdedy added that there were dozens of other inmates who were potentially eligible for remission on Eid al-Fitr but failed to receive it. They include 14 inmates serving subsidiary sentences, 5 inmates whose sentences have not yet reached 6 months, and 3 non-Muslim inmates. Additionally, there are 3 inmates who experienced delays in remission proposals, 21 inmates whose remissions are still being processed, and 6 inmates who had their integration revoked. Besides that, there are also 49 inmates who failed to receive remission due to naughty behaviour inside the penitentiary. They are serving disciplinary punishment periods because of violations committed while in detention. “The majority of them committed violations by being caught carrying communication devices. Including some who committed serious violations,” he said. 452 Received Remission. Rusdedy explained that the 452 supervised residents who received remission fall into two categories: special remission one and special remission two. “Those receiving special remission one, whose sentences are reduced from 15 days to 2 months, number 450 people.
