Downstreaming Sector Investment Rises: A Good or Bad Sign?

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, has spoken about the increase in investment figures for the downstreaming sector. According to him, the increase has reached nearly a third of total national investment realisation. “And we are highlighting this a bit regarding downstreaming, because on average, the total contribution of investment classified as downstreaming has reached almost 30 percent, or 29.7 percent, an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the previous year,” he said. “But indeed, we see the trend of this increase as quite sharp, because compared to 2023, the contribution of downstreaming to total investment was around 24-25 percent, but this percentage figure has now increased to reach 29-30 percent in 2026,” he added. According to him, this trend shows the growing role of the downstreaming programme as a driver of national investment. Going forward, the government will strengthen downstreaming investment, both through domestic and foreign investment, including strategic projects developed by BPI Danantara.
