Downstream Investment Realisation in Q1 2026 Rises 8.2% to Rp147.5 Trillion
The Ministry of Investment/Coordinating Agency for Investment (BKPM) recorded downstream investment realisation of Rp147.5 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents an 8.2 per cent growth compared to the same period the previous year.
The amount also contributes 29.6 per cent to the total national investment realisation for the first quarter of 2026, which reached Rp498.8 trillion. βThe contribution from investments in sectors related to downstream processing is quite significant and could increase further in the future,β said Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
Rosan assessed that the contribution from the downstream sector still has potential to increase along with the strengthening of resource processing projects in various regions. The government is also encouraging the development of advanced industries to continuously increase the value added of national commodities.
Of the downstream investment, Rp98.3 trillion came from minerals, with nickel being the largest contributor at Rp41.5 trillion. Meanwhile, copper contributed Rp20.7 trillion, iron and steel Rp17.0 trillion, and bauxite Rp13.7 trillion.
Downstream investment in plantations and forestry was recorded at Rp29.8 trillion, with palm oil contributing Rp18.3 trillion. Then, downstream oil and gas reached Rp17.7 trillion, while fisheries and marine provided an additional investment of Rp1.7 trillion.
The majority of downstream investment realisation is located outside Java, with a value of Rp111.4 trillion or equivalent to 75.5 per cent. Southeast Sulawesi recorded the highest value at Rp24.1 trillion, followed by North Maluku at Rp18.6 trillion.
West Java absorbed Rp13.0 trillion, while West Nusa Tenggara received downstream investment worth Rp12.9 trillion. Riau Islands also recorded a realisation of Rp9.6 trillion as one of the main destinations for national downstream investment.
