SINGAPORE (Reuters): Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer and his Singapore counterpart S. Jayakumar will hold talks from Sunday on political, economic and security issues, including Indonesia and Myanmar.
Australia's high commissioner to Singapore, Murray McLean, announced on Friday the three-day meeting on bilateral cooperation would cover all significant regional issues.
"We, of course, are concerned about some of the developments that occurred over the last two years in this region, particularly the economic crisis that has affected the stability of some of the countries," McLean said.
He said Indonesia was of strategic importance to both Australia and Singapore. He gave no further details on discussions relating to Indonesia and Myanmar.
