The large Muhammadiyah family in Bandung City has set 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah to fall on Friday (20/3). The takbiran night observance for the Muhammadiyah community proceeded solemnly and orderly.

“For those celebrating Eid al-Fitr today, we extend our Eid al-Fitr greetings, may Allah accept our deeds and yours, please forgive us for any shortcomings in word and deed,” stated Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan.

Farhan admitted he would join takbiran twice. Last night, he participated in takbir with the Muhammadiyah community, and tonight he will again join takbir ahead of the government’s version of Eid al-Fitr. He stressed the importance of maintaining tolerance among religious communities. At the same time, the Hindu community is observing Nyepi Day, so the Bandung City Government has urged that tonight’s takbiran not involve processions.

“This is part of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. We respect our brothers and sisters observing Nyepi. So tonight, there will be no processions,” he said.

Farhan assured that the Bandung City Government, along with its territorial apparatus, is on standby to ensure the safety and comfort of the Muhammadiyah community in performing Eid al-Fitr worship.

West Java Regional Muhammadiyah Deputy Leader, Dikdik Dahlan, stated that Eid al-Fitr prayers will be held at various points in Bandung City. It is recorded that around 56 mosques will host Eid prayers.

“Specifically for the worshippers of Masjid Mujahidin, the Eid prayer will be held at Lapangan Lodaya with imam and khatib Hilman Latief, former Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organising,” he explained.

Dikdik predicted a surge in worshippers, especially due to the differing timings of Eid al-Fitr observance. He urged the public to arrive early.

“We suggest worshippers be present around 05:30 WIB to secure a spot. Insyaallah, by 06:00 WIB, they will start gathering, and around 06:15 WIB, preparations for prayer will begin,” he clarified.

Regarding readiness, Dikdik mentioned that preparations have reached more than 80 percent. Although there were initial rain-related obstacles, conditions have now improved, and it is hoped that the entire series of worship will proceed smoothly. This moment serves as a reflection of tolerance and unity in Bandung City, amidst the differing timings of Eid al-Fitr celebrations and Nyepi observance.

“This becomes a reflection of tolerance between the Eid al-Fitr celebration for Muslims and the Nyepi Day observance for Hindus,” he stated.
