Doorstep Service Drive: Palu Immigration Brings Passport Services to Remote Villages
Class I TPI Palu Immigration Office has launched the Lalampa programme in Parigi Moutong Regency as an effort to bring immigration services closer to the public. Lalampa stands for Layanan Langsung Menjangkau Pelosok Desa (Direct Doorstep Passport Service) and is designed to support communities located far from Palu city. Under the programme, residents can submit passport applications collectively at designated locations without needing to visit the Palu office. On-site officers conduct all stages of passport processing, from checking documents and verifying data to biometric capture and applicant interviews. The presence of the service is viewed as saving time and travel costs for residents while broadening access to immigration services. Head of the Palu Class I TPI Immigration Office, Muhammad Akmal, said Lalampa is a manifestation of the institution’s commitment to adaptive, responsive, and equitable public service. ‘We understand not all communities have easy access to travel to Palu. Therefore, through Lalampa we come directly to the regions to ensure passport services are felt more evenly by the public,’ he said in Palu. Through the programme, the Palu Immigration Office hopes people in remote areas will find it easier to obtain immigration services, particularly passport processing. The Directorate General of Immigration has opened 18 new immigration offices to bring closer access to passport services for Indonesian citizens, residence permits for foreign nationals, and other immigration services. The total number of immigration offices across Indonesia now stands at 151.
