Dony Oskaria Urges State-Owned Banks to Strengthen Fundamentals
Dony Oskaria, Head of the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Agency and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, has urged state-owned banks to strengthen their business fundamentals to become healthier, more competitive, and adaptive in the face of economic dynamics. He stated that this step is crucial to increasing the contribution of state-owned banking to national economic growth.
“Strong growth must be supported by strong fundamentals,” Dony said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday (5/7).
According to Dony, state-owned banks play a strategic role in maintaining financial system stability while serving as a financing engine for productive sectors. Therefore, strengthening corporate actions is necessary to enhance the companies’ competitiveness and support sustainable national economic growth.
As part of this effort, the SOE Agency and Danantara Indonesia held a meeting with the Board of Directors of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, on Friday (4/7). The meeting discussed the company’s performance, strategic business direction, and various corporate action plans to be implemented going forward.
The discussion focused on evaluating and strengthening BNI’s corporate strategy to increase business capacity, expand financing to productive sectors, and reinforce the company’s position in the national banking industry. Additionally, the development of business opportunities and the strengthening of synergy within the SOE ecosystem were highlighted as part of the strategy to drive sustainable corporate growth.
“BNI needs to continue expanding its business capacity so that it can make an even greater contribution to the national economy,” Dony stated.
He affirmed that the SOE Agency and Danantara Indonesia will continue to push for the transformation of state-owned banks, ensuring they have stronger fundamentals, are capable of competing amid global economic changes, and are more optimal in supporting national development and creating added value for both society and the state.
