Padang (ANTARA) — Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO) and BP BUMN Head Dony Oskaria on Friday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of SDN 49 Batang Kabung in Padang, which sustained severe damage from the hydrometeorological disaster in late November 2025.

The construction of the educational facility is being carried out by state-owned enterprise PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) as part of the corporate social and environmental responsibility programme of companies under the Danantara umbrella.

The facilities being built include six classrooms and four functional rooms comprising a teachers' room, library, and general amenities complete with furnishings.

The CSR programme represents the presence of state-owned enterprises in providing solutions needed by the community, in this case for residents affected by the natural disaster.

The physical construction of the school is taking place at a new site approximately 500 metres from the original location, which is no longer fit for use.

In attendance at the event were West Sumatra Governor H Mahyeldi Ansharullah, PT Inalum (Persero) President Director Melati Sarnita, West Sumatra DPRD Chairman H Muhidi, Deputy Chairman of House Commission VI Andre Rosiadie, and Padang Mayor H Fadly Amran.

In addition to laying the foundation stone for SDN 49 Batang Kabung, Dony Oskaria also inspected land belonging to PT Garam in Padang and visited SMPN 7 Padang.

The Danantara COO and BP BUMN Head continued his visit to Pelindo and the port at Teluk Bayur.

The previous day, on Thursday (19 February), Dony — who hails from Tanah Datar in West Sumatra — visited Tanah Datar Regency and inspected the site of a planned emergency stopping lane on the incline road, the future location of a flyover at Pasar Lua, temporary housing for victims of the Malalo landslide, and conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for permanent housing for residents affected by land movement in Rambatan Sub-district, Tanah Datar.
