Padang (ANTARA) — The head of BP BUMN and COO of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, has declared his support for the construction of permanent housing (huntap) using sepablock, an acronym for Semen Padang Bata Interlock.

Oskaria made the remarks during a visit to the PT Semen Padang (Persero) factory in Indarung, Padang, West Sumatra, on Friday.

On the same occasion, he oversaw the inaugural shipment of sepablock for the construction of 500 permanent homes by the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation in West Sumatra.

Oskaria said the quality of sepablock has been proven to be sturdier, more efficient to install, and more comfortable to live with, as indoor temperatures remain cooler than outside.

"All permanent housing should use sepablock. The results are excellent, and the interior of the houses feels cooler compared to the outside temperature. Going forward, I am requesting that all Danantara permanent housing use sepablock exclusively. Make the permanent homes like the sepablock model houses from Semen Padang," he said.

The Buddha Tzu Chi permanent housing will be built at two locations affected by hydrometeorological disasters: 340 units in Air Dingin, Padang, and 160 units in Agam Regency.

In addition, sepablock has already been supplied for the construction of permanent housing by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in Batu Busuk, Padang. Further permanent housing construction funded through the state budget (APBN) is also being explored in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

Sepablock was selected for its advantages, including greater structural strength, the ability to resist solar heat — keeping indoor temperatures comfortable — and more efficient installation.

With these qualities, Semen Padang, through its sepablock product, is further strengthening its role in supporting the construction of decent and comfortable housing for disaster-affected communities in West Sumatra.
