Dony Oskaria Donates 19 Hectares of Land for 'Sekolah Rakyat' in Tanah Datar
The Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, has donated 19 hectares of land for the construction of a Sekolah Rakyat in Nagari Tanjung Alam, Tanjung Baru, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra. The Tanah Datar Regency Government expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the grant, calling it an important milestone in expanding access to quality education while accelerating human resource development.
Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra stated that the land grant is a form of exemplary conduct, concern, and a spirit of mutual cooperation that deserves appreciation. According to him, the availability of ready-to-build land is one of the key factors that will speed up the central government’s approval for the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat.
“On behalf of the Tanah Datar Regency Government and the entire community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Mr Dony Oskaria and his family. This is not merely a land grant, but a major investment in the future of Tanah Datar’s generation. Such exemplary conduct serves as an inspiration that developing the region is a shared responsibility,” Eka Putra told reporters on Friday (26/6/2026).
The Sekolah Rakyat to be built on the donated land is designed as a free boarding school for children from poor, near-poor, and extremely poor families. The facilities to be constructed include not only classrooms but also dormitories, places of worship, a health clinic, sports facilities, road infrastructure, and access to clean water, creating a comprehensive educational environment. The investment value for the construction is estimated to reach Rp 250-300 billion, with the capacity to accommodate up to approximately 3,000 students from primary to senior high school levels.
The Tanah Datar Regency Government believes the presence of the Sekolah Rakyat will have a multiplier effect on regional development. Besides improving the quality of education, the project is projected to stimulate the local economy through increased construction activity, the growth of micro-enterprises, local trade, services, and the creation of new jobs in the surrounding area.
The Tanah Datar region is known as a centre for agriculture, tourism, and culture in West Sumatra. In recent years, the local government has continued to push for improvements in human resource quality as the foundation for inclusive economic growth. The presence of the Sekolah Rakyat is expected to be a driver in reducing intergenerational poverty while enhancing the region’s competitiveness through more equitable access to education.
“We are committed to overseeing this construction so that it proceeds on time, on target, and provides maximum benefits to the community. Hopefully, the Sekolah Rakyat will become a space for the birth of an excellent generation that will bring progress to Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, and Indonesia,” added Eka Putra.
The Tanah Datar Regency Government considers that collaboration between the central government, local government, the community, and figures with social concern is key to realising sustainable development. The land grant is seen as proof that such synergy can deliver real solutions for improving the quality of life of the community.
