JAKARTA — The restructuring process of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) Karya is said to be nearly complete, with the next phase moving into a consolidation stage focused on three core business units.

Dony Oskaria, head of the State Enterprise Regulatory Agency, stated that the three core areas include construction in the building sector, infrastructure, and engineering procurement and construction (EPC).

Dony explained that the restructuring began with fundamental improvements to the company. This step was undertaken through impairment adjustments to the financial statements.

“BUMN Karya is currently undergoing restructuring and is almost finalised. We have already conducted impairments to address deficiencies in their books, and restructured their debts. After this, they will enter the consolidation phase,” said Dony in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The company has also carried out debt restructuring as part of efforts to improve its financial condition.

Dony assessed that fundamental improvements and consolidation will strengthen BUMN Karya’s future prospects. These changes are also expected to enhance the company’s corporate governance.

He emphasised that the consolidation process is undertaken with principles of transparency. Public oversight is considered important for maintaining the performance of state-owned enterprises.

“If there is anything not good or incorrect, it should be raised directly. That is fine. It is a form of control over SOEs that truly belong to the people,” said Dony.
