Deputy Chairman of House of Representatives Commission VI Andre Rosiade and Head of the BUMN Supervisory Agency (BP BUMN) and Danantara COO Dony Oskaria have committed to making Sepablock (Semen Padang Interlocking Brick) the primary material for post-disaster permanent housing construction. Construction of permanent housing for victims of the late 2025 disasters has already commenced in three regions: West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh.

The agreement was announced during a working visit to PT Semen Padang in Indarung, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang, on Friday (20 February 2026), which also marked the inaugural shipment of Sepablock for the construction of 500 permanent housing units by Buddha Tzu Chi in West Sumatra.

Dony Oskaria stated that Sepablock has proven to be robust, efficient to install, and provides comfort as indoor temperatures remain cooler than outside. He went further by encouraging the widespread use of Sepablock in permanent housing projects managed by Danantara.

According to him, a standard of strong, quick-to-install, and comfortable materials will accelerate the recovery of disaster-affected communities whilst reducing construction costs.

Andre Rosiade added that Sepablock has obtained certification from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), is fire-resistant and earthquake-resistant, making it a worthy modern national construction solution. He disclosed that there are already commitments to build approximately 4,800 housing units using Sepablock for various post-disaster permanent housing projects in West Sumatra.

Andre assessed that this Semen Padang product innovation is capable of accelerating the construction of decent housing for disaster-affected communities without compromising quality.

The permanent housing construction by Buddha Tzu Chi will be carried out at two locations affected by hydrometeorological disasters: 340 units in Air Dingin, Padang, and 160 units in Agam Regency. Additionally, Sepablock has also been supplied for permanent housing construction by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in Batu Busuk, Padang.

Looking ahead, the use of Sepablock for permanent housing projects funded through the state budget (APBN) is being explored in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). With its advantages in structural strength, installation efficiency, and indoor temperature comfort, Sepablock is projected to become the go-to material for post-disaster housing construction.

The agreement between Andre Rosiade and Dony Oskaria underscores the acceleration of recovery efforts for disaster-affected communities whilst strengthening Semen Padang's role as a driver of national building material innovation.
