Don't Panic if Water Supply Fails! Report Immediately to Jakarta Siaga 112 for Clean Water Assistance
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) DKI Jakarta is urging all residents experiencing difficulties with clean water supplies to report immediately through the Jakarta Siaga 112 emergency service. This measure has been established so that citizen reports can be promptly verified and addressed through an integrated response.
“If there are members of the community experiencing clean water difficulties, please report them immediately through Jakarta Siaga 112 so that we can verify and coordinate the handling,” said the Executive Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Marulitua Sijabat, on Wednesday (16/9).
This statement follows reports regarding the need for clean water in several areas of the capital, including South Jakarta. Through the Jakarta Siaga 112 channel, BPBD DKI Jakarta continues to maintain a direct reporting line to ensure responsive emergency handling.
Marulitua explained that the series of mitigation and clean water crisis management measures conducted by the BPBD are comprehensive and integrated. The scope of work includes regular monitoring of environmental conditions, ensuring the availability of water reserves, coordinating reservoir refills, and providing rapid responses to every citizen complaint.
“Every incoming report will be confirmed and verified, then coordinated with regional agencies and relevant parties such as PAM Jaya to implement handling, including support for clean water distribution for those in need,” he emphasised.
In addition to handling direct complaints, the BPBD actively monitors areas that, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), are under meteorological drought early warning status. Close synergy is also maintained with PAM Jaya to ensure supply availability, including optimising the filling of water reservoirs throughout Jakarta.
This swift action by the local government also responds to resident complaints that recently went viral on the Threads social media platform, where a resident of Pondok Labu complained of a drastic drop in water pressure at their residence over the past two weeks due to the dry season.
Following up on this, the South Jakarta City Government immediately moved to distribute free clean water assistance to affected residents on Jalan Tridermha X, Pondok Labu, Cilandak.
As part of field operations, BPBD South Jakarta has deployed specialised water tanker fleets with a 5,000-litre capacity to distribute clean water directly to residents experiencing difficulties during the dry season. The government urges the public not to hesitate to use official channels to ensure that aid distribution reaches all areas in need.
