The government continues to promote improvements in regional performance through various efforts. One of them is through the provision of fiscal incentives to local governments. Fiscal incentives are granted in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 1 of 2022 on Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments, particularly Article 50. In that law, the central government may provide fiscal incentives to regions based on certain performance as a form of appreciation for performance achievements. In addition to fiscal incentives, the government also awards local governments deemed successful in delivering positive outcomes for society. Together with detikcom, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is organising the Appreciation for High-Performing Regional Governments 2026. This awards event serves as a form of appreciation from the central government for local governments’ efforts in maintaining economic stability and improving public welfare. Through these awards, Kemendagri encourages local governments to continue strengthening performance and delivering innovations that directly impact society. Featuring 4 Prestigious Award Categories At the Appreciation for High-Performing Regional Governments 2026 event, Kemendagri will present awards to provincial and district/city governments in four prestigious categories: Inflation Control, Reduction in Unemployment Rate, Reduction in Poverty and Stunting, and Creative Financing. The awards are planned to be given across six islands in Indonesia, with the kick-off event taking place on Sumatera island. Through this event, Kemendagri hopes the awards will motivate local governments to continuously improve the quality of governance and accelerate development in their respective regions. Opening the Forum Akselerasi Negeri, Discussing Inflation Control-Stunting In addition to the awards, detikcom together with Kemendagri is also presenting the Forum Akselerasi Negeri. In this context, Kemendagri plays a crucial role as a bridge between central and regional policies, as well as the main driver of accelerating regional government performance. Through this forum, Kemendagri will bring together the central government and local governments in a dialogue ecosystem to discuss various matters from inflation handling, stunting, unemployment to poverty. This forum is not only a space for discussion but also an implementative platform that drives concrete and measurable regional economic acceleration.
