Don't lift sanctions on Myanmar: RSF
BANGKOK (AFP): International press advocacy group Reporters
sans Frontieres (RSF) has appealed to the European Union and
United States not to lift sanctions against Myanmar prior to the
release from prison of 18 journalists.
The request follows the release of some 60 opponents of the
country's military junta, including prominent journalists San San
Nwe and Soe Thein, in response to discussions between the
country's military junta and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi
RSF (Reporters Without Borders) said these releases were a
"positive gesture" but do not "constitute a sufficient move
towards freedom of expression."
