SOLO — The Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system is increasingly being implemented across regions to automatically penalise traffic violations through surveillance cameras. While considered more practical and transparent, many vehicle owners still ignore the ETLE confirmation letter after being captured by the cameras. In fact, failing to confirm or pay the fine within the prescribed timeframe can lead to the blocking of the vehicle’s STNK. The Central Java Police’s Public Relations Head, Senior Commissioner of Police Artanto, said that vehicles captured by ETLE and sent a confirmation letter will receive it by courier at the address listed on the STNK. ‘Vehicles captured by ETLE and issued a confirmation letter that is not confirmed will be blocked after seven days from the letter being received by the violator,’ he said. Not only because of ignoring the confirmation letter, a block on STNK is also carried out if the offender does not pay the fine within the specified period, i.e., 14 days after the offence. Blocking the STNK will cause difficulties in processing vehicle taxes and when selling the vehicle. Therefore, to avoid STNK blockage due to unpaid ETLE fines, vehicle owners are advised to promptly confirm ETLE after receiving the violation notice.
