The increasing use of electrified vehicles in Indonesia means that zero-emission vehicle users need to be aware of the proper etiquette when using Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) facilities. This education is considered crucial as charging stations continue to expand across various regions.

The General Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Car Community (Koleksi), Arwani Hidayat, stated that etiquette education must be supported by firm policies and regulation enforcement from service providers to protect the rights of all users.

“The growing charging infrastructure will not achieve maximum impact if it is not accompanied by an orderly user culture. Koleksi is proactively releasing this guide as a form of moral responsibility from the grassroots level,” said Arwani in an official statement on Sunday (4/10/2026).

According to him, the group has published an ethics guide for SPKLU usage. The guide includes important points such as tolerance, communication, and mutual efficiency.

The guide divides the procedures for using SPKLU into three stages, ranging from queuing to the completion of the charging process.

Before charging, users are advised to monitor machine availability and port status through service provider applications, such as PLN Mobile. If a queuing system is available, users must scan a barcode or QR code to obtain a digital queue number.

If a queuing system is not yet available, the order is based on which vehicle arrived first at the waiting area. Users are also prohibited from using charging bays as parking spaces when they are not actively charging.

While charging, vehicles must be parked precisely within the marked lines and must not obstruct access for other users. Users who leave their vehicles are advised to display their telephone number on the dashboard so they can be easily contacted in the event of any issues.
