Don't Force Your Car into Extreme Manoeuvres for Style

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Scenes of cars reversing then immediately shifting to forward gear while making sharp turns frequently appear in action films. Such manoeuvres may look cool on screen, but applying them to daily drivers can actually accelerate component wear.

Lung Lung, owner of Dokter Mobil, says that rough gear shifts while the vehicle is still moving are not recommended, especially for everyday use.

He explains that forcing a vehicle to change direction before it has fully stopped can cause the clutch and transmission system to work harder than necessary.

“In normal daily conditions, why force it? It’ll just break, bro,” he said.

Lung Lung explained that aggressive manoeuvres may be necessary in certain emergency situations for safety, but for normal use, such driving styles only add extra strain on vehicle components.

In addition to the clutch and transmission, the suspension system can also endure significant pressure from sudden load shifts. Over time, this habit can accelerate component wear.

The phenomenon of drivers imitating action film driving styles is quite common, especially on social media. Many motorists attempt quick manoeuvres to appear more dynamic or simply follow content trends.

Mass-produced vehicles are designed for normal, comfortable road use, not for continuous extreme manoeuvres like stunt cars in films.

Lung Lung reminded that smooth driving habits are better for extending a vehicle’s lifespan, including during gear shifts, braking, and acceleration.

“If it’s not essential, just stop first. Don’t force it,” he said.
