Don't damage green areas
Don't damage green areas
From Pikiran Rakyat
After suffering a spate of natural disasters in West Java, such as the landslides in Garut and calamities in other areas, people here, particularly those living in Bandung, should realize that they need to do something to prevent the situation from happening to them.
No sooner had Garut residents been battered by the disaster than the people of Bandung were shocked by the provincial administration's plan to turn the Babakan Siliwangi area, known as the lungs of the city of Bandung, into a residential complex.
In my opinion, the local administration's plan to build condominiums on this site will only benefit certain groups.
As a citizen of Bandung, I object to this plan because I think this area could at least save our damaged ozone layer.
I am therefore appealing to the authorities to review the plan to avoid further damage to our ecosystem. We do not want our nature destroyed by irresponsible persons nor do we wish to see people living on rafts on Bandung lake.
I fully support the statements made by artists who insist on keeping Babakan Siliwangi as the city's forested area.
