Don't Be Sad About Not Returning Home! DKI Provincial Government Prepares Luxury Surprises for Residents Staying in Jakarta
The Eid al-Fitr holiday in 1447 AH in Jakarta will remain festive, as the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared special treatment for residents choosing not to return to their hometowns and tourists visiting Jakarta through a programme called “Visit Jakarta.”
Governor Pramono Anung affirmed that Jakarta must remain lively and enjoyable despite being nearly half-emptied of its population. “For those not returning home, we have clearly stated that since Jakarta’s theme is ‘Visit Jakarta’, they will receive special treatment,” Pramono said in North Jakarta on Sunday (15 March).
One special gift for residents is the free operation of public transport for two days during Eid. This facility includes Transjakarta bus rapid transit, Jakarta MRT, and Jakarta LRT services.
Furthermore, students holding the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) will receive free access to iconic tourist centres. In collaboration with the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Indonesia (PHRI), the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (Astindo), and the Jakarta Experience Board, the programme offers various attractive packages valid from 27 February to 31 March 2026.
“We hope Jakarta will remain festive even though nearly half of those celebrating are travelling home,” Pramono said.
