Don't ask the legislators
Don't ask the legislators
From Bisnis Indonesia
The recent legislative election has created new representatives. They have spent hundreds of millions and even billions of rupiah to secure their "respectable" positions.
The question is whether they will struggle for the public interest. We already know the legislative institution resulting from the 1999 general election, which cost less than this year's election, produced new corruptors.
The people will likely have to wait until the representatives recover their money before anticipating any public-oriented policies.
All this as the conditions of the nations' poor worsens. Never mind. Other institutions that consistently provide aid or grants to different communities can still be sought for relief.
Such aid can come from Australia, Japan, Canada, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the U.S. Agriculture Department, PTPN XI state estate company, PT Telkom, Supersemar Foundation and the Social Capacity Restoration Program.
