Donny Ermawan to Hold Dual Roles: URI Governor and Deputy Defence Minister

Retired Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto has confirmed he will remain in his post as Deputy Minister of Defence. The confirmation came after he was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as the Governor of the University of the Republic of Indonesia (URI) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). “Yes, I am still Deputy Minister of Defence. Yes, I am still holding dual roles,” he told reporters. Donny explained that his work as deputy minister and URI governor overlaps, particularly in the area of education on national insight. “That is also still within our remit at the Ministry of Defence. There are tasks to provide socialisation related to defending the nation and national insight, and there is still a correlation there,” Donny said. On the same day, Prabowo also inaugurated Yos Sunitoyoso as the vice governor of URI and Sudaryono as the head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
