Doni Salmanan Released from Prison After Being Granted Parole
The convict in the fraudulent investment and money laundering case involving the Quotex binary options application, Doni Muhammad Taufik alias Doni Salmanan, has been released from prison after being granted parole.
Doni Salmanan received the right to parole on Monday (6/4).
Doni had only served four years of imprisonment out of the total eight-year prison sentence.
The Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Kusnali, stated that the parole granted to Doni Salmanan complies with the applicable rules.
“During the parole period, the individual is required to report periodically to the Bandung Community Guidance Office (Bapas),” said Kusnali on Thursday (9/4).
These provisions include the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2018 on Conditions and Procedures for Granting Remission, Assimilation, Family Visit Leave, Parole, Pre-Release Leave, and Conditional Leave, as last amended by the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 2023.
Other regulations refer to the Implementation Guidelines for Fulfilling Conditional Rights for Inmates Number PAS-20.OT.02.02 of 2022, in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2022 on Corrections.
Kusnali explained that Doni Salmanan began serving his detention period from 9 March 2022 after being entangled in the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) case as well as Money Laundering Criminal Acts (TPPU).
“The individual was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp1,000,000,000 (one billion rupiah), with the provision that if the fine is not paid, it shall be replaced with six months’ imprisonment, based on the Supreme Court Decision of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3692 K/Pid.Sus/2023 dated 4 June 2023,” he said.
Furthermore, Kusnali stated that Doni Salmanan has paid the Rp1 billion fine, which was deposited through the Bandung Regency Prosecutor’s Office.
“During the serving of the sentence, the individual behaved well based on the Inmate Coaching Assessment System and has obtained a total remission of 13 months and 105 days,” he revealed.
