Jakarta, VIVA – The House of Representatives’ Legislation Body (Baleg) of the Republic of Indonesia and the government have approved the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) to be brought to the next level in the plenary session to be enacted as a law.

The decision was made during the Baleg DPR Plenary Meeting held on Monday, 20 April 2026 evening. The meeting was chaired directly by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Representatives from the government were also present, including Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister for State Secretariat (Wamensesneg) Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, and Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Afriansyah Noor.

Before the decision was taken, all factions first expressed their respective views.

Then, in the mini faction views, all factions stated their agreement with the RUU PPRT.

On that occasion, Dasco also gave the opportunity to the government representatives to express their views, represented by Menkum Supratman.

Afterwards, Dasco proceeded with the decision-making. He asked all meeting participants whether the RUU PPRT could be brought to the next level in the plenary session.

“Next, we request the meeting’s approval on whether the results of the discussion on the Domestic Workers Protection Bill can be processed further in accordance with the legislative process, if approved?” Dasco asked.

“Agreed,” responded the Baleg members and the attending government representatives.

Thus, the RUU PPRT will be brought to the plenary session scheduled for Tuesday, 21 April 2026 tomorrow.

“The RUU PPRT will be scheduled in the nearest plenary session, insha’Allah tomorrow,” Dasco said.

It is known that the Baleg DPR Working Committee together with the government, particularly the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker), completed the RUU PPRT in one day. Previously, the government submitted the List of Problem Inventory (DIM) on Monday, 20 April 2026.

The results of the Working Committee discussion show that the RUU PPRT has 12 chapters and contains 37 Articles.
