Done! DPR Approves Domestic Workers Protection Bill to Proceed to Plenary Session
The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a first-level decision-making meeting regarding the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT). DPR RI approved the RUU PPRT to be brought to the plenary session for enactment.
The meeting was held in the Baleg DPR RI meeting room, DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday evening (20/4/2026). The meeting was directly chaired by Deputy Speaker of DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. The meeting was also attended by Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas.
Dasco initially invited the Head of the RUU PPRT Working Committee, who is also the Chairman of Baleg DPR RI Bob Hasan, to read out the results of the discussion on the RUU PPRT that took place today. It should be noted that Baleg DPR RI had just finished discussing 417 DIMs that were sent by the government to DPR RI today.
After Bob read the report on the results of the discussion on the RUU PPRT, Dasco then invited each faction to give their mini-faction views. Each faction stated their agreement with the RUU PPRT.
Then, Dasco invited the government to read its opinion regarding the RUU PPRT. Law Minister Supratman also approved the RUU PPRT.
“We all hope that the RUU PPRT can be jointly approved in the DPR RI plenary session to be enacted into law, to serve as a juridical foundation for Indonesian domestic workers,” said Supratman.
“In the end, we, representing the President of the Republic of Indonesia, approve and welcome, and convey our highest appreciation for the completion of the RUU PPRT at the first-level discussion to be continued to the second-level discussion for decision-making in the DPR RI plenary session,” he continued.
Next, Dasco asked for approval on whether the RUU PPRT could be brought to the second level or plenary session to be enacted as a law. All DPR RI factions and the government agreed.
“After we have heard the views and opinions of the factions and the government together, next I request the approval of the meeting, whether the results of the discussion on the Domestic Workers Protection Bill can be further processed in accordance with statutory regulations, if approved. Agreed?” asked Dasco.
“Agreed,” answered the meeting forum.
“With the approval that the Domestic Workers Protection Bill can be processed to be scheduled in the nearest plenary session, God willing, tomorrow,” he stated.
Thus, the RUU PPRT has officially been brought to the plenary session, which is planned to be held on Tuesday (21/4) tomorrow. In that meeting, the RUU PPRT will be decided upon for enactment into law.
