Donations to help the poor
Donations to help the poor
From Pos Kota
Born and bred in Jakarta, I am always deeply moved by the plight of Jakarta residents when their residences are flooded or when they are evicted from their homes.
In fact, the Jakarta city administration can set up a special institution to collect donation/charity from private employees, civil servants, businessmen, large-scale vendors and government officials in this capital city.
Take, for example, that there are some 3,000,000 private employees and civil servants in Jakarta. If each of them donates Rp 1,000 a month, about Rp 3 billion will be collected monthly. Then, let's suppose that there are about 2,000,000 businessmen, large-scale vendors and government officials in Jakarta. If each of them sets aside Rp 10,000 a month, some 20 billion will be collected monthly.
The Jakarta city administration, through this institution, can spend this money on helping the poor.
