Donation confuses airport authority
KUTA, Bali: Foreign tourists to the resort island have enthusiastically donated their holiday money in boxes placed in the departure hall of Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Airport authorities warmly welcomed the contribution, but were confused as to what to do with the donation, which comprised mostly of coins.
The airport's assistant manager of law and public relations, Munir, said on Saturday that the coins were from many different countries and could not be exchanged into rupiah, as banks and money changers do not accept foreign coins.
"I can understand that banks and money changers don't exchange coins, because even I can't tell which countries they come from," Munir said. -- Antara
