Donat Bridge Construction: General Sudirman Statue Will Not Be Relocated

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has commenced construction of the ‘Donat Bridge’ pedestrian deck in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, and has confirmed it will not affect the location of the General Sudirman statue in the area. Governor Pramono Anung stated that the statue will not be moved, as the bridge’s design does not obstruct the independence hero’s monument. He explained that after days of deliberation, the decision was made to keep the statue in place to avoid polemic. Pramono noted that he has reviewed the detailed design by PT MRT Jakarta, which places the statue precisely in the centre of the Donat Bridge, making it highly visible to pedestrians circling above.
