Donald Trump Threatens to Strike Iran Harder

The United States military has launched strikes against multiple targets in Iran in response to what it termed unprovoked and continuing Iranian aggression, sparking a fierce exchange of threats and attacks between the two nations. US President Donald Trump vowed a powerful retaliation, telling reporters in the Oval Office that America would strike harder. “We hit them hard yesterday and we’re hitting them hard again today,” he stated. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded on the social media platform X, declaring that his country would not retreat and would stand firm against any threats or pressure. US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth subsequently confirmed that bombs would fall on critical facilities in Iran, reinforcing the president’s commitment. The latest conflict was reportedly triggered by the crash of a US Army Apache helicopter on patrol in the Strait of Hormuz, which President Trump claimed was brought down by a very low-flying Iranian drone. Both crew members survived. In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched attacks on 21 targets at US military bases in Bahrain and Jordan, though US officials reported that almost all missiles and drones were intercepted without casualties. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqai accused the US of wrecking the diplomatic process through contradictory messages, shifting positions, and repeated truce violations. In addition to air strikes, the US military reportedly fired on an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman for breaching a naval blockade against Iranian ports, a direct consequence of Iran’s closure of strategic shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Amid the military escalation, President Trump reiterated his demand for Iran to immediately sign a peace agreement, insisting the current draft offers no leeway for Tehran to develop weapons of mass destruction and completely prohibits them from possessing nuclear arms.
