Donald Trump Takes Interest in Hunting for Aliens
US President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Defence (Pentagon) and other intelligence and security agencies to release government files related to alien life, citing “enormous interest.”
In a Truth Social post, as quoted from Russia Today on Saturday 21 February 2026, Trump said the records earmarked for disclosure would include unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and unidentified flying objects (UFO), along with “all other information related to these very complex, yet very interesting and important matters.”
He made the announcement just hours after accusing former President Barack Obama of leaking “classified information” when Obama suggested in a recent podcast interview that aliens are real.
“I don’t know if it’s real or not,” Trump said, adding of Obama: “I can probably save him from trouble by declassifying those documents.”
Obama’s remarks went viral last weekend after podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen asked the former president whether aliens exist.
“Those things are real, but I haven’t seen them,” Obama said. “And they’re not kept at, what’s it called? Area 51. There’s no underground facility, unless there’s a massive conspiracy and they’re hiding it from the President of the United States.”
Area 51 refers to the classified US Air Force site in Nevada that has long been the focus of conspiracy theories alleging the government conducts secret research there and stores extraterrestrial materials and technology.
To clarify his position, Obama subsequently said he had not seen evidence that aliens “have made contact with us,” but added that “statistically, the universe is so vast that there is a strong probability that life exists out there.”
When asked about the possibility of visitors from outer space, Trump said: “I have no opinion on that. I’ve never discussed it. Many people discuss it. Many people believe it.”
