WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has confirmed reports that he referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as ‘crazy’ during a telephone conversation concerning Israel’s military operations in Lebanon. The conversation was reportedly marked by heated debate.

Speaking on the ‘Pod Force One’ podcast by the New York Post on Wednesday, Trump admitted to using the language in question. ‘Yes,’ Trump said when asked if he had called Netanyahu ‘very crazy.’

‘I am a little disturbed by constantly disagreeing with him about Lebanon. At one point I said, “We have to stop this. We have to stop it,”’ he added, as reported by RT.

Despite this, Trump stated that he still maintains a very good relationship with the Israeli leader.

Axios previously reported earlier this week that Trump angrily urged Netanyahu to cancel planned attacks in Beirut. He warned that further escalation could jeopardise ongoing US-Iran negotiations and a fragile regional ceasefire.

Denying pressure from Israel, the US President rejected claims that Netanyahu had pushed him into a conflict with Iran, stating that anyone making such accusations is an ‘enemy’.
