Don Ritto Detained by AGO After Handover from Police
Don Ritto (DR), a suspect in an alleged money laundering (TPPU) case concerning the handling of a state official’s legal case involving PT Asabri for the 2020-2024 period, has been detained by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) following his handover from the National Police (Polri).
Based on ANTARA’s observations on Friday, Don Ritto arrived at the Special Crimes Building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta at 2.16pm WIB wearing an orange National Police detainee shirt.
The suspect was then escorted by prosecutors’ officers into the building.
About two hours later, Don Ritto emerged from the building wearing a pink vest designated for AGO detainees. He was immediately escorted towards a detention vehicle.
“What shocked us was that our client, Mr Don, was immediately detained at the C7 detention facility of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia,” said his legal counsel.
The lawyer revealed that the detention was based on the same allegations brought by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, relating to the handling of the PT Asabri case in the Tan Kian cluster.
The National Police handed over suspect Don Ritto along with a number of pieces of evidence to the Attorney General’s Office in connection with three suspected corruption and money laundering cases.
Deputy Head of the National Police Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastidkor), Brigadier General Boro Windu, said the handover of the case was the next stage in the case handling process.
“Today, the process continues with the handover of the suspect, electronic evidence, and non-electronic evidence to the Attorney General’s Office as part of the stages of handling the case,” he said.
According to Boro, following the handover, the subsequent investigative process becomes entirely the authority of the Attorney General’s Office.
