Don Ritto Claims Sentul House Safe Contained Assets for Foundation
Don Ritto’s legal counsel, Handika Honggowoso, has addressed the matter of the safe seized during a search of former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah’s house in the Parahyangan Golf 2 area, Sentul. During the search, the Corruption Eradiction Task Force (Kortas Tipidkor) of the National Police and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police confiscated 74 kilograms of gold bars and foreign currency totalling Rp476 billion from the safe.
Handika asserted that all evidence currently seized and transferred to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) is legally under the control and ownership of his client, Don Ritto, and is completely unrelated to the former Jampidsus, Febrie Adriansyah. He explained that the house in Sentul indeed belongs to Febrie Adriansyah, but the owner had not occupied it for ten years. In early 2023, Don Ritto submitted a formal request to borrow the asset.
“The house in Sentul was requested by our client from the owner in 2023 to be used as a backup operational office for a foundation,” Handika told reporters in Jakarta on Friday. The foundation in question operates in the fields of Islamic propagation and education, currently accommodating around 700 students from Eastern Indonesia, particularly Papua and Maluku, who are pursuing education at an Islamic boarding school in the Banten area.
As proof that the house was fully controlled by Don Ritto, Handika revealed that all maintenance costs, electricity and water bills, as well as staff salaries at the house, have been paid by his client since early 2023. Evidence of these payments has reportedly been seized by investigators. Regarding the hidden safe containing 74 kilograms of gold, 14 million Singapore dollars, and 4.7 million US dollars found by the police, Handika stated that the storage facility was built with Don Ritto’s permission in 2024.
“In 2024, Mr Idon (Don Ritto) requested permission to build a safe. Its function was to store valuables because there would be a lot of foundation operational activities there,” he explained. Handika assured the public that the source of the funds and valuables inside the safe was legally handed over by another party for the foundation’s interests, and Don Ritto’s legal team promised to disclose the details transparently in due course. “What is certain is that it is not related to Mr Febrie. Secondly, it is certain that there is a party who legally handed it over. Thirdly, it is certain that it will be used for the interests of the foundation,” he stressed.
