Dompu to Receive Livestock Feed Downstreaming Programme Worth Rp1.7 Trillion in 2026
Dompu, NTB (ANTARA) - The Dompu Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara, has stated that its region will receive an allocation for a livestock feed factory downstreaming programme as a central government priority project worth Rp1.7 trillion in 2026.
The Head of the Dompu Regency Livestock and Animal Health Service, Ilham, said that the local government had previously proposed three programmes: the construction of a superior poultry housing facility, a pullet factory, and a livestock feed factory.
“Out of those three proposals, the one approved is the construction of the livestock feed factory. This is what we will focus on to realise as soon as possible,” he told ANTARA in Dompu, NTB, on Thursday.
He explained that the project is part of the central government’s efforts to promote downstreaming in the national chicken farming sector, particularly in the Sumbawa Island region.
According to Ilham, the local government has been asked to prepare a minimum of 10 hectares of land as the primary requirement.
Several alternative locations have been prepared, including a 13-hectare government-owned plot on the border of Madaprama Village, Woja Subdistrict, and Soriutu Village, Manggelewa Subdistrict.
“The land in Madaprama-Tekasire is about 13 hectares owned by the local government, so it already meets the minimum requirement,” he said.
In addition, the local government is also studying several other land options in the Woja and Manggelewa Subdistricts, with sizes ranging from 7 to 10 hectares.
Ilham emphasised that the final decision on the construction location will be determined by the central government after a feasibility assessment process.
“A team from the centre came down about two weeks ago to directly assess the readiness and progress on the ground,” he said.
Currently, the local government is awaiting an invitation from the relevant ministry along with Danantara representatives to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will detail the project’s financing.
He added that construction is targeted to begin this year, with the groundbreaking to follow the signing of the MoU.
“Insya Allah, activities will start this year, along with the groundbreaking,” he said.
The construction of the livestock feed factory is expected to serve as a driving force for downstreaming chicken farming on Sumbawa Island, while also increasing added value and strengthening the local economy based on the livestock sector.
