Mataram (ANTARA) - Dompu Regent in West Nusa Tenggara, Bambang Firdaus, has reported several social media accounts to the police over allegations of an affair with a female police officer (polwan).

The Head of Satreskrim at Polres Dompu, AKP Masdidin, confirmed via telephone on Thursday that the complaint has been received.

“We only confirm that the complaint has been received at Polres Dompu,” he said.

The regent’s report to the police is further supported by statements from his legal representative, Supardin Siddik.

He revealed that several social media accounts, including one on the Facebook platform named Raja Pesisir, have posted statements that appear defamatory and damaging to the reputation. These accounts have uploaded sentences accusing him of an affair without evidence.

“Considering that situation, we, the legal team, decided to report several Facebook accounts. Those accounts have massively and continuously attacked the honour of our client,” Supardin said.

He explained that this legal step is appropriate as a means to defend the honour of the Dompu Regent as a public official.

The report to Polres Dompu also serves as the regent’s clarification that the allegations are untrue.

He hopes that the police will follow up on this report professionally. If there is indeed actus reus and mens rea, he allows the police to handle it according to applicable legal procedures.

“We believe it will be processed professionally as it should,” he stated.
