Dompu Regency Leads NTB in 2026 Economic Census Data Collection

Mataram (ANTARA) — The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Dompu Regency has recorded the highest progress in the 2026 Economic Census in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), reaching 76.5 per cent as of 22 July 2026.

Head of BPS NTB Wahyudin said a strategy targeting centres of economic activity first has accelerated the census process in the region.

“The strategy is to first record locations with many business actors, whether micro, small and medium enterprises or large businesses,” he said in Mataram on Thursday.

Wahyudin explained that this approach allowed the majority of business units in Dompu Regency to be recorded in the early stages of the census, resulting in a higher completion percentage than other areas in NTB.

He reminded all officers to prioritise the accuracy and quality of the data collected, rather than merely chasing completion targets.

Data quality is a crucial factor because the results of the 2026 Economic Census will serve as the basis for compiling economic statistics, mapping business potential, developing regional economic structures, and formulating various economic development policies at both regional and national levels.

“We hope Dompu can complete data collection around 20 August, so there will still be time for verification and improving data quality should any shortcomings be found,” Wahyudin said.

He further stated that BPS has deployed 267 officers to ensure the success of all stages of the 2026 Economic Census in Dompu Regency.

This figure comprises 234 field data collection officers who record data directly from business operators, 32 field examiners tasked with supervising and checking the results of data collection, as well as one special officer and one special examiner to handle specific data collection objects.
