Dompu Regency Leads NTB in 2026 Economic Census Data Collection

Mataram (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has reported that Dompu Regency has recorded the highest progress in the 2026 Economic Census data collection in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), reaching 76.5 percent as of 22 July 2026. Head of BPS NTB Wahyudin stated that a strategy targeting centres of economic activity first has accelerated the census process in the region. “The strategy is to first collect data from locations with many business actors, whether micro, small, medium, or large enterprises,” he said in Mataram on Thursday. Wahyudin explained that this approach enabled the majority of business units in Dompu to be recorded during the initial phase of the census, resulting in a higher completion percentage compared to other areas in NTB. He reminded all field officers to prioritise the accuracy and quality of the data collected, rather than merely chasing completion targets. Data quality is a critical factor because the results of the Economic Census 2026 will be used as a basis for compiling economic statistics, mapping business potential, formulating regional economic structures, and developing various economic policies at both the regional and national levels. “We hope Dompu can complete the data collection around 20 August, so there is still time to conduct verification and improve data quality if any deficiencies are found,” Wahyudin said. He further conveyed that BPS has deployed a total of 267 personnel to ensure the success of all stages of the 2026 Economic Census in Dompu Regency. This number comprises 234 field data collection officers who conduct direct enumeration of business actors, 32 field inspection officers tasked with supervising and checking the data collection results, and one officer and one special inspector assigned to handle specific enumeration objects.
