Dompet Dhuafa Sends 9 Tonnes of First-Phase Aid for NTT Earthquake Victims

Dompet Dhuafa has sent nine tonnes of humanitarian aid for communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The aid, consisting of basic necessities such as food and hygiene kits, was dispatched via two distribution routes: three tonnes by sea and six tonnes by land.

This forms part of a rapid response to meet the urgent needs of survivors. Dompet Dhuafa is targeting the periodic delivery of 81 tonnes of humanitarian aid to NTT.

Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, Ahmad Juwaini, said the response was carried out from the first day of the disaster by deploying teams to help rescue victims and meet the emergency needs of the community.

“Dompet Dhuafa has responded immediately since the first day, sending aid that could be described as the first rapid reaction assistance we dispatched to handle emergency situations,” Ahmad told Republika at Sasana Budaya, Dompet Dhuafa Philanthropy Building, during a press conference on disaster response and the departure of logistics aid for disaster survivors in NTT on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

According to Ahmad, the initial phase of disaster management is prioritised towards saving lives, including helping victims trapped or pinned under buildings. After that, aid is directed towards meeting food needs, health services, evacuation shelters and other basic necessities.

Dompet Dhuafa is also paying attention to the needs of vulnerable groups in evacuation centres, including the needs of infants and women, such as sanitary pads, which are sometimes overlooked in aid distribution.
