Dompet Dhuafa Provides Free Motorcycle Service for Dozens of Journalists

Dompet Dhuafa, through its Institut Kemandirian (Institute of Self-Reliance), provided free motorcycle servicing for journalists on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The activity was held at the Philanthropy Building in Jatipadang, South Jakarta, with a target of servicing 50 vehicles belonging to journalists from various media outlets.

The organisation set up eight vehicle inspection stations staffed by trained mechanics. The programme was designed to assist journalists in maintaining their motorcycles, which are essential vehicles for their daily news-gathering responsibilities.

Ahmad Juwaini, chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, stated that the activity was part of efforts to strengthen relationships with journalists whilst introducing the empowerment programmes run by Institut Kemandirian.

“Alhamdulillah, Dompet Dhuafa has rolled out free motorcycle servicing for 50 journalists today. This agenda is part of maintaining ties with journalists, who serve as communication channels in disseminating information and education, and in encouraging the public to participate in humanitarian causes,” said Juwaini.

He added that the activity also provided an opportunity to introduce the empowerment programmes operated by Institut Kemandirian. The institute is a vocational training and entrepreneurship centre managed using zakat funds collected by Dompet Dhuafa from the public.

Through various hard skills and soft skills training programmes—including automotive mechanics, digital live selling, and barista training—Institut Kemandirian seeks to empower economically disadvantaged individuals, school dropouts, and persons with disabilities so they can become self-sufficient and prepared to enter the job market or start their own businesses.
