Dompet Dhuafa Introduces Zakat as "Cool Lifestyle" through Press Tour to Madina Zone
Dompet Dhuafa has introduced zakat as part of modern lifestyle through the campaign “Berzakat Itu Kalcer” (Zakat is Cool). Amid the dynamic lifestyle of urban society, this campaign seeks to redefine zakat, not merely as a ritual obligation, but also as a positive culture that promotes economic independence.
This effort was expanded through the Press Touring Berzakat Itu Kalcer activity by inviting 50 journalists from various media outlets to visit the integrated Madina Zone in Parung, Bogor, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Madina Zone serves as an example of modern and productive management of zakat, infak, sedekah, and wakaf (ziswaf) funds. The journey commenced at 10:00 WIB from the Philanthropy Building in Jakarta towards Madina Zone.
At this location, ziswaf funds are managed into productive business units capable of generating up to 160 eggs daily. The journalists also had the opportunity to experience direct harvesting at the poultry farm.
The “cool” atmosphere intensified as the convoy visited Madaya Coffee, where zakat is presented in the form of coffee products resulting from farmer empowerment programmes.
The series of activities continued to Madina Bakery. During a fun baking session, journalists were divided into several groups to try making bread.
The activity concluded with breaking the fast together and performing the maghrib prayer in congregation, before the convoy returned to Jakarta.
Dompet Dhuafa expressed gratitude for the support of journalist friends, hoping that this collaboration would continue in disseminating ziswaf as a model of community empowerment.
Journalists from various media outlets praised the event. Yalsa Awalita from Olenka Media expressed enthusiasm in participating in the activity, appreciating the opportunity to explore empowerment programmes. Similarly, Azis from Bens Radio noted that the press touring activity was always interesting as it provided numerous stories and motivation from programmes being implemented.
