Kompas.com – Recitations of verses from the Quran echoed amidst the lush surroundings of the Green Lido Tahfizh Islamic Boarding School (PTGL), Benda Village, Cicurug, Sukabumi, on Tuesday (17/2/2026).

In anticipation of Ramadan 1447 Hijri/2026 AD, a serene atmosphere prevailed as students, community figures, and representatives of donors gathered for the Ramadan welcoming event held by Dompet Dhuafa.

Through the Waqf Development and Investment Agency (LPIW), Dompet Dhuafa held the traditional welcoming event combined with acts of care for 100 orphans.

The event, titled ‘Together with the Quran: Spread Good Deeds and Elevate Prayers for the Nation’, served as a moment to strengthen the spirit of sharing and encourage collaboration for good deeds in anticipation of the holy month.

Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Supervisory Board, Rahmad Riyadi, said that Ramadan always teaches Muslims to restrain themselves, strengthen empathy, and increase good deeds.

‘Let us make this Ramadan welcoming event the beginning of real good deeds through the movement of knowledge, the movement of care, and the movement of collaboration,’ he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com, Thursday (26/2/2026).

‘One good deed will give rise to other good deeds,’ he said.

The welcoming event also included a lecture by the Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), Waryono Abdul Ghofur. He said that Ramadan is a momentum to increase social activities, including sadaqah jariyah (continuous charity) through waqf.

According to Waryono, scholars have taught that one of the main practices in Ramadan is to give sadaqah jariyah through waqf, the benefits of which can be felt continuously.

‘Ladies and gentlemen, let us fill this Ramadan with the best deeds, namely striving to do and spread good deeds,’ he said.

Waryono gave the example of an Islamic boarding school area with adequate facilities as one form of sadaqah jariyah in the form of waqf.

He even reminded that the value of charity does not lie in the size of the amount, but in sincerity.

‘Even if (donations) through Dompet Dhuafa are only Rp 1,000, that’s okay. The Prophet Muhammad SAW taught us that we can also give charity through a smile,’ said Waryono.

After the series of welcoming events, Waryono, along with the leadership of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation and representatives of donors, inspected the ongoing construction of the Islamic boarding school dormitory.
