JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Dompet Dhuafa is directing the distribution of kurban for 1447 Hijriah to regions requiring post-disaster recovery support, such as Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

The move aims to ensure the benefits of kurban reach those in need, including vulnerable groups in disaster-affected areas.

Ali Bastoni, Chair of Dompet Dhuafa’s 1447 H Kurban Programme, stated that the 2026 Tebar Hewan Kurban initiative targets 24 provinces and over 800 villages across Indonesia.

“Public enthusiasm for donating kurban to these regions is high, with some animal quotas already sold out ahead of Eid al-Adha,” Ali said during a press conference titled ‘Great Sacrifice Stories in Humanitarian Missions and Kurban Spirit 1447 H’ at the Philanthropy Building in Pejaten, South Jakarta, on Monday (25/5/2026).

In addition to domestic distribution, Dompet Dhuafa is also running a kurban programme for Palestine, processing meat into canned food.

“Why cans? Because Gaza is not conducive. The meat needs processing to extend shelf life and adapt distribution to on-ground conditions,” he explained.

Comedian and social activist Indro Warkop also noted that kurban distribution must be precisely targeted to ensure benefits reach those truly in need.

He said he chooses to donate through philanthropic organisations because their distribution process is based on need mapping and field surveys.

According to Indro, this approach enables aid to reach areas that previously received limited kurban distribution.

“With this method, kurban benefits can reach regions where distribution has been limited,” he said.

He recalled his childhood when his family could only afford one goat for kurban. Witnessing the slaughter and meat distribution with his parents taught him gratitude and compassion for others.

“However simple our circumstances, there are always others facing greater hardship,” Indro said.

According to Ahmad, this spirit must be manifested through aid distribution that reaches those in need, including disaster-affected areas and regions with limited access to assistance.
