The Disaster Management Center (DMC) Response Team of Dompet Dhuafa has confirmed full preparedness in distributing emergency aid, ranging from the deployment of medical teams to an emergency kitchen or Pos Hangat, for hundreds of survivors of the earthquake disaster in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).

In a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, the DMC Dompet Dhuafa Response Team reported that combined personnel had moved swiftly to the affected location and arrived at the first disaster handling point in Maumere, Sikka Regency.

Upon arrival in Maumere, the DMC Dompet Dhuafa response team immediately joined the combined SAR team to assist with the evacuation process and help relocate affected residents from the temporary evacuation site at the Regent’s Office to the Gelora Samador field.

At the Gelora Samador field, Dompet Dhuafa established a Pos Hangat service as a form of support to quickly provide nutritious food and drink for residents in the evacuation area.

The Pos Hangat service reaches at least 670 families of disaster survivors who require initial nutritional intake amid the post-earthquake emergency situation.

The basic health services include physical examinations, initial treatment for survivors who suffered injuries from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake, as well as health monitoring for toddlers and the elderly.

Based on assessments by the medical team and volunteers in the field, a number of urgent needs still required by survivors include supplies of medicines, staple foods, baby equipment, mats and blankets.
