SEMARANG — A prolonged dry season in parts of Central Java has made it difficult for residents to obtain clean water for their daily needs. In response, Dompet Dhuafa Central Java, through its Water for Life programme, has distributed clean-water aid to people affected by drought in Jepara and Grobogan regencies.

A total of 42,000 litres of clean water has been delivered to 426 households across the two areas. The assistance is intended to help residents meet their needs as water sources become limited during the dry season.

The first distribution took place in Karangaji village, Kedung district, Jepara regency, where 170 households received 24,000 litres of clean water. Residents have been experiencing drought since August 2026, with conditions worsening from September to October.

Before the aid arrived, residents had to fetch water from neighbouring villages for their daily needs. The village water supply had also stopped flowing during the dry season.

Residents, who have long faced limited access to clean water, welcomed the assistance with gratitude. They hope similar support will continue until rain returns and water sources begin to recover.

Residents of Monggot village, Geyer district, Grobogan regency, have faced similar conditions. Drought began there in July 2026 and became more severe at the peak of the dry season in September.

Before receiving assistance, residents relied on the remaining river water, digging small holes to obtain it.

In the area, Dompet Dhuafa Central Java distributed 18,000 litres of clean water to help meet the needs of 256 households. The assistance is expected to ease the burden on residents and help them meet basic needs during the dry season.

Zaini Tafrikhan, head of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java’s branch, said the organisation would continue to support people affected by drought, particularly through clean-water assistance.

“For some of us, water may be easy to obtain. But for our brothers and sisters affected by drought, getting clean water is a daily struggle. Through the Water for Life programme, we want to continue supporting communities in affected areas. We encourage the public to join in giving, because even a drop of our concern can bring hope to those in need,” Zaini said.

Through its Water for Life programme, Dompet Dhuafa Central Java continues working to provide access to clean water for communities facing water shortages, particularly in drought-affected areas.

Water is not merely a daily necessity; it supports health, hygiene and family life.

However, access to clean water during the dry season remains a challenge in several areas. Public support and concern are therefore needed to help the assistance reach more people facing similar difficulties.

Dompet Dhuafa Central Java is inviting the public to support the Water for Life programme. Donations made through Dompet Dhuafa Central Java are expected to help provide clean water to communities in need.
