Domestic Workers Protection Bill Set for Enactment, Law Minister: Meets Demands of All Labour Unions
JAKARTA - Law Minister Supratman stated that the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT), which is set to be enacted as a law, already aligns with the demands of worker groups.
“It meets the demands of our friends from all labour unions, who have also expressed their desire for this bill to be finalised,” Supratman said when met after attending the plenary meeting of the House of Representatives Legislation Body (Baleg) at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday (21/4/2026).
“For the government, this is a moment of joy,” Supratman added.
“And alhamdulillah, the DPR leadership and all our colleagues in Baleg have managed to complete it. This is certainly a joy for the government; the bill has finally come to fruition because it is a DPR initiative,” he explained.
The DPR RI Baleg has agreed to bring the RUU PPRT to level II or the plenary session on Tuesday (21/4/2026) today.
This agreement was reached during the plenary meeting on the RUU PPRT between the DPR RI Baleg and the government held on Monday (20/4/2026).
“Does the outcome of the discussion on the revision of the Domestic Workers Protection Act allow it to proceed further in accordance with statutory regulations if approved?” asked Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco during yesterday’s meeting.
All meeting participants immediately expressed their agreement, accompanied by the gavel strike signifying approval.
“With its approval, a plenary session will be scheduled in the near future. Insha Allah, tomorrow,” Dasco emphasised.
This decision was made after eight factions in the DPR RI Baleg presented their views on the results of the RUU PPRT discussion and agreed to expedite its enactment through a plenary session.
Meanwhile, government representatives present included Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister for State Secretariat Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, and Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor.
Baleg DPR leadership included Baleg Chairman Bob Hasan, Deputy Baleg Chairman Sturman Pandjaitan, and Ahmad Iman Sukri.
