A woman working as a domestic helper in the Kelapa Gading Barat housing complex, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta, was allegedly confined. The Kelapa Gading Police responded to the report from the victim, identified by the initials LD (23).

“The victim reported the alleged confinement on Tuesday (4/8) afternoon via the 110 hotline service,” said Kelapa Gading Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Kiki Tanlim, as quoted by Antara on Thursday (6/8/2026).

He stated that the complainant is a resident of Cianjur, West Java. The complainant claimed she was confined while registering as a domestic helper at a house in the Kelapa Gading area.

“When she wanted to leave her job, the complainant’s identity card was withheld and she was asked for a sum of money,” Kiki said.

The complainant then called the National Police’s 110 call centre to request police assistance, and officers immediately went to the scene. Kiki stated that officers have taken statements from several witnesses.

Officers also took the victim to the Kelapa Gading Police Station and brought her together with the agent and the employer for mediation.

“We conducted mediation to resolve the matter,” Kiki said.

Job Did Not Match Agreement

After receiving the report via the 110 call centre, police officers immediately conducted an examination at the scene and discovered that the victim, identified by the initials LD, had sought employment through Facebook and obtained job information from a domestic worker agent in the Cipinang area, East Jakarta.

After communicating with the agent and agreeing to work according to the terms, the complainant travelled from Cianjur to the work location and arrived on Monday (3/8).

However, upon arriving at the house of a man with the initials HR in the Artha Gading Villa housing complex, Block C1, RW 21, Kelapa Gading Barat, the complainant felt the job did not match the initial agreement.

“So the job promised by the agent was not suitable, and the victim wanted to resign or not work as a domestic helper,” Kiki revealed.

When the complainant attempted to resign, the homeowner instead withheld the complainant’s identity card, considering it as collateral for the Rp 1.5 million that had been given to the agent, until a replacement was provided by the agent.

“Because the complainant felt pressured regarding the money, she reported the incident via 110,” Kiki added.
