Domestic political condition
Domestic political condition
From Media Indonesia
It seems that political practices in Indonesia are quite messy
now and are no longer based on existing principles. That this is
so is clear from efforts to return the political condition to the
past. Currently there is psychological warfare going on between
the executive, judicial and legislative institutions. The outcome
of this psychological war will benefit only the individuals in
these institutions. If Indonesian university students let this
situation develop unchecked, the country is sure to fall into an
abyss and the goals aspired to in the Constitution will go to
naught.
Most of the people in these three institutions have yet to
undergo complete reform in their behavior, as is evident from the
great number of conflicts that these institutions are involved
in. If this condition drags on, these people will simply shut
their mouths and the state's funds will be siphoned off in the
interests of the individuals and their groups. The consequence
will be that many innocent people will be scapegoated to smoothen
the way for these people to reach their ambition. Then, if no
action is taken to curb these practices, the prevailing laws and
regulations will only benefit these people and, again, innocent
parties will have to be their sacrificial lambs.
If this situation persists, whoever is the leader will become
the target to nurture the interests of these groups. If these
groups do not like the leader, they will then conspire to remove
him/her from office. To ensure that all this will not happen,
university students must press forward for the removal of these
people from the executive, legislative and judicial institutions.
The existing institutions are now operational, alas, not to
improve the lot of the nation, but rather to further the
interests of certain groups only.
