Domestic Market Booming! Samasindo to Aggressively Target the Food Sector
Jakarta, VIVA – PT Sawit Mas Indonesia (Samasindo) believes it will be able to increase its crude palm oil (CPO) sales by the end of this year compared to the previous year.
Director of Sawit Mas Indonesia, Cheny Canliarta, targets that the company’s installed capacity can be utilised more optimally in 2026. “Our target is to utilise 90-95 percent of the installed capacity. Hopefully, this can be achieved in the first semester of this year,” he said on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
According to him, this optimism is supported by the continued high demand for CPO in the domestic market. This means, continued Cheny, that demand has not decreased, although CPO prices have fluctuated, even though demand in the country tends to increase.
He explained that Samasindo’s sales focus on the domestic market. The majority of Samasindo’s consumers, around 90 percent, are for the food sector, namely cooking oil producers.
Cheny’s optimism is in line with data from the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (Gapki) which states that domestic CPO consumption throughout January-October 2025 grew by around 5 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
Citing Gapki data, throughout January-October 2025, domestic market consumption reached 20.69 million tons, while in the same period in 2024 it was around 19.64 million tons. In the past ten months, the majority of CPO was used by the biodiesel sector, namely 10.61 million tons.
Then, as much as 8.20 million tons were absorbed by the food sector and the oleochemical sector by 1.87 million tons. Meanwhile, Indonesian palm oil exports were recorded at 27.69 million tons throughout January-October 2026, up from the same period in 2024, which was around 24.84 million tons.
