Domestic Investment Exceeds Foreign Investment for First Time in History
For the first time in history, the value of domestic investment has surpassed foreign investment. Investment realisation in the first quarter of 2025 was recorded at Rp 465.2 trillion, up 15.9 per cent compared with the same period last year. The share of domestic investment (PMDN) stood at 50.5 per cent, compared with foreign investment at 49.5 per cent.
The investment composition for the period comprised foreign direct investment (PMA) of Rp 230.4 trillion and domestic investment (PMDN) of Rp 234.8 trillion. In terms of regional distribution, investment outside Java reached Rp 235.9 trillion, slightly higher than investment in Java at Rp 229.3 trillion.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani stated that this achievement was in line with targets set by the National Development Planning Agency. He claimed it demonstrated high investor confidence, both domestic and international, particularly in Indonesia's stability and investment climate.
"These figures are very encouraging," said Rosan at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
