Domestic Flight Tickets Subject to VAT Again as Government Incentive Ends, Pelita Air Offers BNI Card Discounts

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The public purchasing domestic economy class flight tickets will once again be subject to Value Added Tax (PPN) starting Monday (6/7/2026), following the end of the Government-borne VAT (PPN DTP) incentive on 5 July 2026. With the policy’s conclusion, ticket prices now include the tax component in accordance with applicable regulations.

Amid the end of the government incentive, Pelita Air is offering a discount programme for customers transacting with BNI debit or credit cards, including the co-branded BNI MyPertamina card. The promotion provides a discount of up to Rp360,000 for transactions meeting the minimum requirement.

Several routes typically meet the transaction threshold for this discount, such as Jakarta-Aceh flights, which are priced between Rp2.3 million and Rp2.8 million, and Jakarta-Medan flights, which range from Rp1.9 million to Rp2.4 million depending on schedule and seat availability.

Pelita Air’s Commercial Director, Asa Perkasa, stated that the programme is intended to assist the public with their travel plans in the coming months. “This promotion is expected to be an option for people who wish to travel, whether for holidays, business trips, or family visits, while enjoying a comfortable flying experience with Pelita Air,” Asa said in a statement on Monday (6/7/2026).

The government had previously extended the 100% PPN DTP facility for economy class scheduled flights for the period of 24 June to 5 July 2026 to maintain public purchasing power and support mobility.
