Dollar Strengthens, Component Costs Soar, Oppo Claims No Profit on Find X Series
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Oppo Indonesia has commented on rising global component costs and the strengthening US dollar. Product Manager Deni Setiawan explained the impact on smartphone prices. ‘We know that this year’s price increases are due to supply chain issues with RAM and memory, as well as a continuously rising exchange rate. This has impacted smartphone prices,’ Deni said during the launch of the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Deni explained that Oppo is striving to keep prices competitive, including by developing technology accessible to everyone. Deni claimed that Oppo is barely making any profit from the Find X series sales, aiming to provide the best for consumers. ‘We want this technology to be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re putting all our energy into offering much more competitive pricing in the market,’ he added. ‘And, to be precise, OPPO is practically making no profit on the Find X series,’ Deni said. The Find X is Oppo’s premium series, with prices starting at Rp16 million for the Find X9s and reaching Rp28 million for the Find X9 Ultra. Memory price hikes at the end of last year affected the smartphone industry, with several brands raising phone prices since then. This situation has been exacerbated by the dollar’s recent strengthening, with the rate hitting Rp17,500 per dollar mid-month. One possible outcome is rising smartphone prices, as key components such as chipsets and cameras are still imported.
